Snow Day

Out of all the wonderful things in nature I absolutely love the snow. I’ve always preferred the Winter over the Summer simply because in my opinion, it’s easier to stay warm when it’s cold than to stay cool when it’s hot. I can walk around with coats, blankets, and scarfs when I’m freezing but I can’t walk around naked when I’m burning up (yucky). Aside from this, I love the look of winter, trees covered in snow is my definition of the season, although, LA is the last place anyone would ever find snow. I was dying to spend some time in the snowy mountains the whole month of January and finally, this past Saturday my sister, my boyfriend, his cousin, and I were able to drive up to Big Bear Lake. 

There was a mixture of fog, rain, and snow on our way up to the lake. When we got off the car everything had stopped and the ground was completely dressed in white. As we walked around trying to find the perfect hill to slide down on, it began to snow...and let me tell you...it was beautiful!

We spent about an hour trying to build this pesky little snow man, who honestly wasn’t so little at all, he was almost my height...which is still kind of tall right? when it was time to crown him with a nose, we conveniently found a carrot laying around (i know, it’s strange). 

On our drive back home, the sky was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Sunsets have always been my favorite, I can never ignore them, I always have to stop and stare.

Grey Is the New Black

I’ve been wearing black pants and black leggings everyday (aside from skirts and dresses of course) for who knows how long, no other color, just black. I went on a little hunt to a place down in Belmont Shore and found these grey pants/ leggings that I absolutely love! They’re so comfortable yet dressy. The store I got them at is called Heavenly Couture, they sell all their clothes for $16. yup $16. Everything from shirts to dresses, to jackets and sweaters. Some things are better quality than others, but over all it’s a really good buy for the price. I picked up a few things on my visit there last week, I’m thinking of sharing those with you guys in a future post. 

I paired the pants with a black shirt to keep it neutral. I’m not quite sure why i’m liking dark colors at the moment, maybe because I can add almost any makeup look and it’ll look amazing.

Naked 3? Amazing. The NYX Runway collection has the most gorgeous shimmery shadows that can give a neutral eye an entire new look. NYX single shadows are always so pigmented and these two are no exception.

The NYX bronzer is now one of my favorites, its super easy to apply and to blend. The Elf duo is part of their holiday gift sets, both the bronzer and the blush are shimmery but are not too overpowering. Tarte’s Peaceful and Nars’ Orgasm are amazing, i can’t explain it, they just are.

Maybelline’s coal pencil I found to be perfect to use on the waterline. The glitter liner by NYX is saturated with a good amount of glitter compared to others i’ve tried, this one by far is my favorite. I have yet to try the NYX’s Rouge Parfait, but let me tell you, it looks amazing on my hand. Both Orange Aglow and Glistening Amber are nude lip glosses, perfect for pairing with dramatic eyes.

Cold Weather Essentials

Hi guys!! Happy New Year!! I’m very excited about this being the first post of the year! Let me just say that 2014 felt like a blink, it was an amazing year, but I’m excited to see what 2015 is going to bring. I have so many ideas and goals for this blog and I’m so so excited for you guys to see them.

Since its still January I decided to share some items that I find to be most important during the cold weather. We are having a pretty unpredictable Winter here in LA, there are days where a warm jacket is needed, days where we have to bundle up just enough, days where we have to pop out our rain boots, and there are also days where we have woken up in the middle of the night in sweat. For those very random cold or chilly days I usually reach for a beanie, an oversized sweater, leggings, and some boots.

Beanie

I usually like to wear crochet beanies to keep my ears warm, this 

one here was around $5, you can find these almost anywhere

for around the same price.

Sweater

I like to wear light weight but warm sweaters. This one is the cutest 

and warmest sweater ever and I absolutely love the pattern. I 

bought this one at a local clothing store, I can’t remember 

the price but it wasn’t very expensive.

Leggings 

The leggings I like to wear have fleece inside, which are great for 

keeping legs warm. They were about $5 at a local store.

Boots 

My favorite boots are by Michael Kors, they’re very comfortable 

and they keep my feet nice and warm.

Winter Makeup

Hi guys, Isn’t it so exciting? Christmas is just around the corner (excited fist squeeze)! I am overwhelming myself with all the Holiday things that are coming out everywhere, although I refused to decorate and listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Im not quite sure why, but there’s something about waiting until the Friday after Thanksgiving to pile on all the Christmas music, sparkles and things! December and its cold weather is my absolute favorite month, not only because it’s Christmas time, but also because I can wear fluffy hats, warm coats, and dark and red lips everyday with no shame (not that I’m ever ashamed...but you know what I mean). A dark or red lip with a bronze eyeshadow is my go to makeup match for December.

The Loveliest Time Of The Year

Fall with all of its lovely colors, is my most favorite time of the year. Though the weather doesn't change dramatically here in California, evenings do begin to feel cooler and more cozy. It’s the time when I most enjoy those long evening walks and oversized sweaters.

Tarte: Rainforest After Dark

A few weeks ago Ulta posted a picture of Tarte's Rainforest After Dark palette on their Instagram page. That same day (*cough), I went out and bought it!

The palette is for both cheeks and eyes, it contains a highlighter (0.14 oz), a bronzer (0.14 oz), a blush (0.21 oz), and six eyeshadows (0.035 oz).

I’m a sucker for cute packaging so I obviously fell in love! I was sold at the fact that its very small and thin which makes it easy to carry around, specially during traveling! 

so this is how it looks like......

It’s made up of earthy tones, which are perfect for the coming fall.

The six eyeshadows give you a variety of different looks. They have great color payoff and apply fairly easily.Three of the shadows are matte, including Bare To Explore, Tan-gled Up In You, and Don’t Turn A-Brown.  Make A Mauve and Plum Away With Me are shimmery sheen shadows, Up To No Gold also has shimmer but its more in the metallic family.

Champagne is a gorgeous highlight. IT’S very sheen so it’s easy to overdo. It also tends to stick and concentrate where it was initially applied (hope Im making some sense here... hehe) so you gotta make sure it’s completely blended out.

Unleashed is a beautiful rosy pink color that matches perfectly with the warm tones of the eyeshadows.

Park Ave Princess is a very subtle bronzer that is not too orange and not too muddy. I love It because it's the perfect bronzer for my skin tone! 

Overall the palette is Amazing! I did notice some fallout, specially on the bronzer, but aside from that, I absolutely love it! Tarte did a great job on the palette, if you’re thinking of giving it a try, I 100% recommend it!

Hello! It's been a while since I've posted. I'm sorry for leaving you guys in the dark for so long, but thank you for sticking around, It means a lot. I've been quite busy trying to adjust to the new work flow and environment. Handling new situations can be quite difficult for me, but I think I'm now at a point where I've adapted and can get back to doing one of my favorite things, which is talking to you guys!

Summer Beauty Hacks

It is now the 25th of June and it's officially summer here in California. I've been busy working and celebrating these past few days but I'm back with some beauty hacks. If you don't know what beauty hacks are, they're basically tricks that help make your life a whole lot easier. These eight items in specific are quick fixes for various summer beauty problems. 

Let's get started…

1. Sweat Stains during summer can be unpredictable. To remove them from clothing, squeeze lemon juice on the stains before washing.

      

      2. There's no summer without Sunburns. To relieve burning skin, grab an egg and separate the yolk from the white. Rub the white all over the burn to help cool down the area.

3. To give your skin a Dewy Glow during the hot and dry summer days mix a small amount of liquid highlighter in with your foundation.

4. Summer is not the time to rock them Cracked Heels, to fix this icky problem, apply some Vaseline to them and put on a pair of socks right before going to bed

To make your Summer Fragrance last longer apply a light coat of Vaseline on pulse points, like inside your wrists. This will help the fragrance cling to the Vaseline instead of sinking into your skin.

5. Hot weather calls for bear legs, If at some point you find yourself out of Shaving cream, use hair conditioner. It works just as well and it will leave your legs feeling extremely soft.

6. Deodorant Stains are a problem, even when we're out of the summer months, to get rid of them, take an already used drier sheet and rub it over the area. 

No one likes to deal with Staticky Hair, to tame it, grab a drier sheet and run it through the areas where there's static.

7. There's nothing worse than being at a summer event and suffering from mid-day sheen. To fix this, grab a small piece of a toilet seat cover and use it as Blotting Paper. It works perfectly.

8. During the summer when keeping hair up and out of the face is crucial, spraying Bobby Pins with hairspray will make them sticky which will help them stay in place.
